I want to leave you with a heuristic about ownership and victimhood, one you can take into the week regarding the problems in your life.
Ownership:
If I have a problem, I am the problem.
Victimhood:
If I have a problem, I am not the problem.
One thing that shows up over and over again in movement work is how often we create the very problems we believe are happening to us.
We place the cause outside ourselves and, in doing so, give away our power to change it.
To think, “If I have a problem, I am the problem,” can feel jarring. Maybe even offensive.
But consider this:
If I am the problem, then I am also the solution.
That’s where your power is.
So this week, when you find yourself facing a problem, ask yourself:
Am I putting the problem outside of my responsibility?
Or am I willing to make myself the problem?
Because if you are the problem…
You are also the solution.
That’s the real difference between ownership and victimhood.
If you want to dig into where this shows up in your own life, book a Diagnostic Call and let’s find it together.
